Richard Wood aged about 8

I have created this website to record how our family evolved and to share this primarily with other family members. It is fair to say that investigating my fathers early life in a series of Barnardo homes in the mid 1930’s proved both rewarding and intriguing to an enormous degree! Who would have thought that a diligent officer in the Norwich Records office would remember a 10 year old enquiry and link two people together, to unfold a completely new line of my fathers family tree! This is just one of the many coincidences and fortunate events that have helped to solve some of the mysteries, that ours along with most family tree’s include. This site does not aim to be fully inclusive and please accept my sincere apologies now for any errors or omissions! (please do contact me to correct any errors that you see) It is simply a reflection of some of the people and stories that make up our family social history, and what rewarding fun it has been.

From a family of Wood’s we now had Rigg, Tankerville and Sutcliffe in the tree ……….. where did they come from?

The family lines that are included on this website are primarily those of both my wife’s and my own direct family. My father’s is Rigg, Wood, and Barsotti my Mothers is Hancox, Collett and Aston and on my wife’s side, her fathers family of Cole and her mothers family of Moseley and Davis.

It is often said that “the apple never falls far from the tree” and in my case despite being born in a small village in Wiltshire, I am currently living in an area very close to Kingham, Moreton in Marsh, Lower Moor, Broadway, Long Marston, Quinton, and Ilmington, where most of my own or my spouse’s families grew up, the only exception being the Rigg side of the family that originated in Rochdale.
